As of 8 November 2021, fully vaccinated foreign citizens can now enter the US if they provide proof of vaccination status and a negative COVID-19 test prior to boarding an airplane to the US. As of 6 December 2021, the negative COVID-19 result must be from a test taken no more than 1 day before travel to the US. This applies to all air passengers, regardless of citizenship.

The US Preclearance (USCBP) facility is a purpose built facility that allows US bound passengers to undertake all US immigration, customs and agriculture inspections at Dublin Airport prior to departure.

We advise passengers to arrive to the airport 3 hours in advance and try to clear US Preclearance at least 2 hours in advance of your flight.

Once you have cleared Dublin Airport security, the US Preclearance screens will direct you when to go to US Preclearance. Passengers should not  present to US Preclearance before their flight opens. Please see example below.

Preclearance Flight Information Display Screen
All passengers travelling directly to the US from Dublin Airport go through US Preclearance.

We recommend passengers to arrive at the airport 3 hours before their scheduled US flight to allow enough time to pass through Dublin Airport Security and US Preclearance.

If you are travelling from Dublin to the US on your connecting flight you can use the Preclearance facility in Dublin and will not have to go through US customs when you land.

If you fly from Dublin to another airport outside of the US then you will not use US Preclearance
